S-MATE extreme switch mate can connect the ordinary 1/2/3-button wall switch which acts as a remote controller. S-MATE extreme switch mate is battery-powered, so it does not require a neutral wire in the mounting box.

SONOFF S-MATE extreme switch mate is an “eWeLink-Remote sub-device”. SONOFF S-MATE extreme switch mate can locally control the devices through the eWeLink Remote signal after connecting with the eWeLink Remote gateway device (such as MINIR4, DUALR3/DUALR3 Lite, M5, NSPanel Pro) and setting a local scene. Compared with S-MATE, S-MATE2 size is smaller, the battery life is longer(5 years), and double-click and long press are available when S-MATE2 is connected to a push button switch.

Small and efficient

Smate 2 resolved the lighting solution

I have 4 lighting points and a 3 Pin power socket with 3 physical wall switches. The Smate2 solution provided me the perfect solution.
1. It provide a unswitched Live cable to the false ceiling to the Bathroom.
2. I was able to use MiniR4 for the 3 lighting points in the Bathroom. A light for shower area, one for the rest of the bathroom and one more for the cove lighting at the mirror. With it, I am able to run an unswitched 3 pins socket for hair dryer and shaver. Conventionally, the connection has to tie to one of the light and only when the light is turned on, there will be power to the socket.
3. due to the limited space in the wall switch, I can only install one ZBmini L2 to control one of the 2 ceiling lights in the room. With Smate 2, I connected another Mini R4 to one of the ceiling light. Now both ceiling lights are smart.

Overall, the response with lights via Smate 2 is slower than those that have the switched line connected to the miniR4. Only other problem that I have is the Smate 2 is not recognized by Google Home yet.
