Overview

BASICR4 is a newly upgraded WiFi smart switch equipped with an ESP32 chip. BASICR4 not only enhances the basic features but also elevates performance, all while maintaining an affordable price.

Compared with BASICR2, BASICR4 has three new functions, Magic Switch Mode, Auxiliary Overheating Protection, and "eWeLink-Remote" Control. BASICR4 has "magic switch" mode, which means you can still control the light switch through the app even turning off a traditional wall switch (Note: *Only compatible with mainstream brands of double pole rocker switches. The rear-end light needs to be compatible with mainstream brands of LED,energy-saving lamps, and incandescent lamps ranging from 3W to 100W).

BASICR4 is a smart switch with the gateway function of “eWeLink-Remote“. Using S-Mate2 or R5 to pair with BASICR4, then set the scene, you can reach the two-way control and local control.

Could be perfect, but not quite there yet.

Easy to wire / use and finally have a solution that ‘works’ for UK two way lighting. However I have found the magic mode to be temperamental - Unless I gently ‘roll’ my physical switches the relay will often not register the break in current used to trigger, and the converse is that they will
often 'bounce' as they switch on - on/off/on - or where i have two wired into two lights on one switch the change of state in the first triggers the opposite change in the second, after the physical switch change, so they end up in opposite states. AIso, I'd much prefer a Zigbee version - somethingvwith magic switch that could be i stalled at the switch would be great, as 2-way switching is what ibcant make work with my ZBMini2Extreme relays.

PS - using with Modules flashed with Tasmota for local control.

BASICR4 AWESOME

It is easy to install DIY many new functions that are beneficial for those who are creative using the idea to combine with any Sonoff R or M series.

Great product, although R2 version was sent.

These are great switches, have now converted the house to a smart system, for a suprisingly low cost and I love these switches. Being used to control the heating in this instance. However it was the R2 version that was sent, thather than R4 that was ordered. Not a big problem tho.

A great upgrade to sonoff basic

The new addition of magic mode switch is great, makes it easier to add into existing 2 way switches.
I hope this can be added to the next sonoff mini models

great Sonoff wifi switch

this new version of Sonoff wifi smart switch is really good at working with. it set up so easily. and view Ewelink app, you can set up easily for remote or scene automation of room underfloor heating. we use hundreds of it for many application to switch on / off any small devices at home, office, shop etc.

Will use again.
