TH 10/16 Upgraded to TH Origin

  

SONOFF TH Origin (the upgrade version of TH10/TH16) is a smart temperature and humidity monitoring switch with ESP32 chip, it keeps monitoring the temperature and humidity in real time, once they reach your preset threshold or the device's on/off state changes, you will receive the push notification on the phone. SONOFF TH Origin supports 20A/16A max loads, compatible with more home appliances. TH Origin support to check 6-Month Temp & Humi historical data accurate to the hour. In the smart scene, temperature, humidity, on, off support setting as the trigger, on, off, invert as execute actions. Support adding SONOFF devices to Home Assistant for control and automation through eWeLink add-on.

SONOFF TH Origin supports three kinds of temperature monitor and humidity monitor sensors—THS01 Temp & Humi Sensor, WTS01 waterproof Temp sensor, and MS01 Soil Moisture Sensor. The sensor connector is upgraded to RJ9, supporting hot-plugging making the connection more stable and reliable. So TH Origin has wide application scenes, like heated swimming pool, irrigation system, fermentation room, reptile terrarium, greenhouse grown, etc.

The RL560 sensor extension cable can connect the SONOFF temperature and humidity sensors to extend your device's distance. THS01, WTS01 can be extended to 60M, and MS01 Soil Moisture Sensor can be extended to 10M.

Lack of integration with Home Assistant

Unlike the TH10/16, the Sonoff software does not report the temperature for the TH20 to Home Assistant (HASS). I had to use an alternative solution and purchased Shelly's instead.

In my application, not a good replacement for the TH16.

My application is for a 'wax pot' for bicycle chain waxing. The TH16 had the ability to have commands of 'wax pot on/off' and would regulate the temperature to 200F when on. This version does not have the ability to control temperature while in manual mode...which is what the commands let you control. A 'wax pot on' command turns it on and doesn't regulate the temperature (that's bad for the wax). The automatic mode cannot be entered with any (Alexa) commands. I don't want the wax pot on all the time, only when I want to wax chains. I have resorted to placing this in auto mode (controlling the temp), and to plug it in and turn it on (enters auto mode) when I need to wax chains. Totally negates the function of a smart switch.

Could a manual on/off with temperature regulation command be added? Or, am I missing something?

Perfect Temperature and Humidity Monitoring Switch

The new version of TH10/16 is more compact and provides temperature history graph. The only problem is that in new version the socket of temperature/humidity sensor is changed and one have to by AL010 2.5mm Audio Jack to RJ9 Adapter in order to use existing sensors.

Reliability and Functionality Issues - Otherwise Great Product

We really appreciate having a thermostatic WiFi controller, but we have had several temperature sensors not work out of the box. Also, it would be great if ITEAD would add a datalogging function. It is nice to be able to see the instantaneous temperature, but a graph of the temperature over time would provide much more useful information and seems like it would be an easy addition since you already have all of the temperature data. Please let us know if you can add this feature.

Great little automated waterproof temperature probe controlled relay/switch.

I like this automated sensor switch. It only has one mounting slot for a screw. The wire cover/clamp is a weak point as only wires are clamped - cable not clamped - could be pulled free, so clamp the cable to the mounting surface when installed. It fills my need to sense temperature and control a heater. The app will send me notifications when it changes on/off or if it stops communicating. The temperature probe specs say it is waterproof. Two models (probe is the only difference I think), so order the right one. I will buy it again.
